What are the requirements of entry for My RØDE Reel?
To participate in My RØDE Reel, you must submit an original short film that is a maximum of three (3) minutes in duration. You must also submit a behind-the-scenes film that showcases how your short film was made. It should also be a maximum of three (3) minutes in duration and must feature a RØDE product in the use of the production. Both films are to begin with the official My RØDE Reel title card supplied in the starter pack, which can be downloaded when you sign up for a My RØDE Reel account.
What are the time limits for the short film and behind-the-scenes film?
All My RØDE Reel short film entries and behind-the-scenes videos must be at least three (3) seconds in length to accommodate the title card and no longer than three (3) minutes in length.
Can a short film win multiple awards?
Yes, every short film submitted into My RØDE Reel is eligible to win multiple awards as long as they meet the selection criteria of each award.
Do I need to use a RØDE product to enter?
All My RØDE Reel entries require a RØDE product to be used in the production and clearly shown in the behind-the-scenes video. This can be any RØDE microphone or accessory.
How long does the title card have to be on screen for?
Both the main short film and behind-the-scenes video must feature the My RØDE Reel title card at the start of each video and be displayed for a minimum of three (3) seconds. The title card is supplied in the starter pack, which can be downloaded when you sign up for a My RØDE Reel account.
When do entries close?
Entries for My RØDE Reel close at 10AM (AEDT/GMT+11) on October 20th, 2021.

Do I have to submit any supporting documents with my entry?
No. The starter pack contains a few documents and templates to help you get started with your film, but you do not need to submit these with your entry.
Are there any themes or concepts that my entry should follow?
There are no themes or concepts that your short film needs to follow. The theme and story of your short film is totally up to you. If you’re looking for inspiration, use the prize categories to give your film direction.
Why do you need my age details?
Due to restrictions in some countries and territories, we are required to check the entrants age or in the case of a minor, the consent from a guardian. Entrants shall be considered as Minors for the purpose of the Competition if they are over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 20 years old if they are from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand or South Korea, and otherwise over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 18 years old.
Can I submit a film that is not in English?
Yes! We accept short films in any language. If possible, include subtitles for the judging panel. If your film is in Chinese, was submitted from a Chinese IP address, was filmed in China, and was ticked as being a Chinese entry on the entry form, it will be eligible for the "Best Chinese Film" category.
Can I submit an existing short film I have made?
As long as your short film meets the requirements of My RØDE Reel and has not been entered into a previous year’s competition, yes you can submit it.
Can my entry contain graphic violence, nudity, coarse language, or other mature content?
While there are no strict content guidelines for your short film, if your entry is considered too graphic or contains content that is considered inappropriate, we may refuse to accept your entry. Entries can be flagged with 'Mature Content' on submission for viewer discretion.
How long does the entry approval process take?
Please allow 24-48 hours for your entry to be reviewed for approval. During the final days of the competition, we may experience a higher volume of entries. At this time, we will endeavour to review all the entries as soon as possible but there may be a longer waiting time.

Entries received during this time may be approved after the submission deadline and are still eligible for My RØDE Reel.
Are there any countries that are excluded from entering My RØDE Reel?
The Competition is free to enter and open to any person, except employees of RØDE and residents of North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The Competition will be void in any other jurisdiction where it is prohibited. Minors are entitled to enter the Competition, provided they have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter and participate in the Competition, and provide that parent or guardian’s details upon entry to the Competition for verification by RØDE. Entrants shall be considered as Minors for the purpose of the Competition if they are over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 20 years old if they are from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand or South Korea, and otherwise over the age of 13 years old and under the age of 18 years old.

How will the cash prizes be paid to the winners?
Cash prizes will be paid either by cheque, direct bank transfer or a third-party money transfer service as appropriate in your region. Any fees, charges, exchange losses or taxes payable as a result of receiving a cash prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
Can you submit multiple entries to My RØDE Reel?
Yes. As long as the film has not been submitted before, and meets all other guidelines for the competition, you can submit as many entries as you like.
I am unsure which category to enter my film into.
There are four genre categories you can enter your main film into – comedy, documentary, drama and animation. If you have made a film and are unsure which category to submit to (for example, an action or horror film), select ‘Drama/Other’ from the drop-down menu in the entry form.
